Congrats on your first blog post. I enjoyed it an look forward to more.

You are on (or near) the forefront of the canning/preserving renaissance. It's even the theme of Eugenia Bone's latest book, "Well-Preserved: Recipes and Techniques for Putting Up Small Batches of Seasonal Foods," and of her NYTimes blog.

Dana, thanks for your words of encouragement!

Claire, you are absolutely right. I have Eugenias book and will be blogging about some of the recipes I will make from her book. I like her small batch approach to canning. Its a lot more accessible than being faced with instructions for processing a bushel of something.

What a wonderful read! Thank you.

Congratulations on the launch of your blog, Pennie! Great writing, and like your tropical fruit salad, a delicious mix of content, sensory images, and evocative memories. I'll look forward to reading more!

Peggie,

Wonderful blog, as good as your book reviews!

Pennie,
I enjoyed the memories! Now I know why I feel depressed in January, especially when it is cold and cloudy.
I hope I get a taste! :-)

Thanks, Jen! I hadnt thought about it until just now, but in essence I included a mini book review here, didnt I?

Pennie Magee

Hmm, Judy, that wouldnt be a hint, would it? (smiling) I think we can arrange for a taste for members of the family....

Pennie! Congrats on your first post! Your writing swept me away to Brazil! I've never been there and never even really imagined what it would be like to be there . . . but you got me there (all the way from Castle Rock, CO)and it was lovely! A perfect escape from our cloudy cold day here.

Looking forward to future posts. Can't seem to figure out how to get on to the Blogging Babes but have put you in my reader so that I can find your blog easily!

Fabulous, Pennie! Congratulations on a successful blog launch; I look forward to reading much more.

I absolutely adore the sensuousness of your writing! And your gorgeous descriptions of waiting until the right second for papaya as a child will stay with me a long time!

Looking forward to more poetic reflections on food!
